Scott Bertoni completed 11 of 15 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score to give Fountain Valley a 44-28 victory over Downey Warren.
ON DEFENSE
Servite’s defense registered five sacks, two deflected passes and an interception and limited El Dorado to 82 yards in the Friars’ 14-0 victory.
HOPALONG
Servite Coach Larry Toner hobbled on crutches through the Friars’ Division II playoff game against El Dorado Friday.
Toner suffered a strained knee during Thursday’s practice when Jeff Malone, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound lineman, was blocked into him.
“I was running a drill and forgot I was running a drill,” Toner said.
Of course, his players showed proper concern.
“They all told me it was better me then Malone,” Toner said.
