Sarah Schroeder led a balanced attack with 15 kills, guiding Palisades High to a 15-9, 15-12, 8-15, 15-0 victory over University in the City Section 4-A girls’ volleyball championship Friday night at Cal State Northridge.
It was the fourth consecutive title for top-seeded Palisades (15-3), which defeated University twice during the season in Western League play.
“We’re a little quicker than they are and that was the key,” Palisades Coach Howard Enstedt said.
Fourth-seeded University (11-6) was hampered by 17 service errors, but Coach Neal Newman said it was still the Warriors’ best performance against Palisades.
In the 3-A final:
Van Nuys 3, Marshall 0--Outside hitters Cora Everding and Jenna Panatier combined for 25 kills and the Wolves’ defense had a season-high 72 digs in a 16-14, 15-5, 15-11 victory. Top-seeded Van Nuys (15-1) trailed, 7-2, in the first game before Amy Kim ran off 10 consecutive service points to give the Wolves the lead, 12-7. Third-seeded Marshall (15-2) tied it, 14-14, before two hitting errors gave Van Nuys the game.
