Guthrie Throws for 327 Yards, Three Scores as Kennedy Rolls
INGLEWOOD — Kennedy quarterback John Guthrie completed 14 of 21 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns to lead Kennedy to a 38-13 victory over Inglewood Morningside at Coleman Field, in a Southern Section Division VII first-round playoff game.
Kennedy will play Sunny Hills in the second round next week.
Things didn’t look good for Kennedy at the start when Morningside’s Stais Boseman returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown.
Then, Kennedy scored 31 consecutive points, starting with Guthrie’s first touchdown pass on Kennedy’s second offensive play of the game when he hooked up with Chris Clark for a 64-yard score.
Running back Arraceion Mobley rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns in 22 carries.
His second score came on a nine-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to give Kennedy a 25-7 lead.
Wesley Morris caught five passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns.
