SIMI VALLEY : EPA to Discuss Study of Rocketdyne Lab
Federal officials will hold a briefing Wednesday in Simi Valley on environmental and health concerns associated with the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, which is operated by Rockwell International’s Rocketdyne Division.
The briefing, to be conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Room at the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road. It is open to the public.
The session will focus on preliminary results of a study set up to determine whether the center has contaminated soil, crops or water on adjacent land. The session also will include updates on the cleanup of hazardous materials and a study on the health of Rocketdyne workers.
Representatives of federal, state and local agencies will participate along with Rockwell officials and community activists. The Rocketdyne testing center is in the hills southeast of Simi Valley at the Los Angeles County line.
