GIRLS’ TENNIS PLAYOFFS : Torrey Pines Earns Team Title
The San Diego Section’s top two doubles teams of last season swept three sets to help top-seeded Torrey Pines defeat San Pasqual, 11-7, in the 2-A Team Girls’ Tennis Championships.
Torrey Pines, which won the 3-A competition last season, finished this season with a 21-1 record.
San Pasqual, last season’s 2-A runner-up and the third-seeded team this season, had singles player Tami Byrd sweep her sets. But the Eagles won only one of nine doubles sets.
Seniors Erin Bohrnstedt and Alison McNellis, the section-champion doubles team last season, and Kelly and Kristen McCracken, the runners-up, earned sweeps for Torrey Pines.
