GARDEN GROVE LEAGUE FOOTBALL : Sebreros Sets Two School Records in Garden Grove’s 31-0 Victory
GARDEN GROVE — Jim Sebreros set a Garden Grove High School career rushing record and single-season touchdown mark Thursday night while leading the Argonauts to a 31-0 Garden Grove League victory over Bolsa Grande at Bolsa Grande High School.
Sebreros scored on touchdown runs of 41 and 32 yards and totaled 147 yards rushing in 13 carries. His 32-yard run gave him a season total of 19, breaking the 1970 mark of 18 set by Willie Gardner. The Argonaut senior needed only 87 yards to break the career rushing record set by Fred Miller in 1966-68.
Garden Grove (7-2, 5-1 in league) also received a strong performance from quarterback Brian Schneider to help beat the Matadors (0-9, 0-6).
Schneider completed five of seven passes for 53 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown pass to Gary Henson in the second quarter. Schneider rushed for 75 yards in three carries, including a third quarter 54-yard touchdown. He also kicked all four Argonaut conversions.
