GIRLS’ TENNIS : Grossmont, Poway Advance

Poway’s No. 2 doubles team of Cami Erickson and Nahoko Kawakyu swept its three matches as the top-seeded Titans defeated visiting Fallbrook, 14-4, in the quarterfinals of the San Diego Section girls’ 3-A team tennis playoffs Wednesday.
Poway (18-1) will play fourth-seeded Grossmont, which beat Rancho Bernardo, 11-7, in today’s semifinals.
Third-seeded Morse (13-3) will play second-seeded Bonita Vista (17-2) in the other semifinal. Bonita Vista’s top two singles players, Kristen Nicita and Michelle Morris, won their three matches in a 14-4 victory over Mira Mesa. Morse defeated San Dieguito, 13-5.
In the 2-A, top-seeded Torrey Pines (19-1) defeated Valhalla, 16-2, as the Falcons’ top two singles players, Tory Pratt and Betsy Miringoff, won their matches at love. Elana Gold, La Jolla’s No. 1 singles player, swept all three matches as the Vikings (14-7) defeated Bishop’s, 13-5.
Molly Gavin and Tammy Byrd lost only one game each in sweeping their three singles matches as third-seeded San Pasqual (17-4) defeated University City, 16-2. The Eagles will meet second-seeded University of San Diego High School (16-1), which defeated Coronado, 16-2.
