LA HABRA — Police searched Wednesday for the killer of a 15-year-old boy who was gunned down on a sidewalk in an apparent gang shooting.
Police found Roberto Lucero of Fullerton bleeding as he lay in the 200 block of Willow Street shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Jerry Cline said.
Investigators had made no arrests and were trying to find more witnesses to the shooting. “Right now we don’t have a lot to go on,” Cline said.
Cline said Roberto was walking with friends along Willow Street when they were approached by a second group. For unknown reasons, the two groups began arguing and someone from the second group opened fire with a handgun, police said.
Roberto was hit and the second group fled, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the residential area in central La Habra after police got a call reporting shots fired, Cline said.
Paramedics took Roberto to Friendly Hills Regional Medical Center in La Habra, where he died.
Police urged anyone with information about the shooting to call Detective Mel Ruiz at (310) 905-9750 or the department’s anonymous gang-tip hot line at (310) 905-9797.
