STATE OF DISARRAY
“California’s Bitter Season” (by Robert A. Jones, Sept. 27) should be required reading for all high school students (who can read) and the huge majority of Californians who now feel that their ox has been gored.
There will be massive belt-tightening, here and across the country, and the last to realize that are our legislators. When most of them are more concerned with maintaining the status quo than with providing the citizenry with honest, decent government, the future of this once-great state looks mighty bleak.
How can we demand civilized behavior from our schoolchildren and expect them to take their education seriously while name-calling, street fighting and gutter language are acceptable in Sacramento?
