COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine Valley Women Capture Moorpark Cross-Country Title

With three runners among the first seven, the Irvine Valley women’s cross-country team won the Moorpark Invitational team title Saturday.
Nancy Hunsaker finished second on the 3.1-mile course in 19 minutes 8 seconds. Donna Prioa was fifth in 19:39 and Stacey Skeie seventh in 19:44 for Irvine Valley, which won with 75 points. Mt. San Antonio, which had been unbeaten in two seasons, was second with 94 points.
In the Sequoias women’s volleyball tournament:
Golden West 3, Kings River 0--Becki Gehlke had 10 kills for Golden West in a 15-12, 16-14, 15-3 victory in pool play. The Rustlers (18-0), who have won 53 consecutive matches, also defeated DeAnza, 15-5, 15-8, 15-10.
In the North/South Wrestling Classic:
North wins--The North won for the fourth consecutive year, 22-10. Sacramento’s Jeff Hobart defeated Cypress’ James Lopez, 4-2, at 126 pounds. Ricardo Garcia of West Valley defeated Rancho Santiago’s Brian Tomazic, 10-2, at 190 pounds. In the heavyweight class, Mike Carolyn of Diablo Valley beat Golden West’s Mike Bolster, 11-4.
