Chicago public school principals said that a fund-raising drive to save high school extracurricular activities, including sports, was so successful that the events no longer face the threat of cancellation at 65 high schools. So far, $865,000 has been raised with major donations from the Chicago Sun-Times, Nike, two local radio stations and the Bulls’ Michael Jordan.
