COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI’s Chapman Keeps Shutting Them Down
Amee Chapman recorded her 14th career shutout--and ninth this season--as UC Irvine defeated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 2-0, Tuesday in a nonconference women’s soccer match at Irvine.
Katie Ralph and Dana Schuyler scored within a minute of each other about eight minutes into the match for the Anteaters (9-8-2).
Chapman, who holds the school record for single-season and career shutouts, had three saves.
San Luis Obispo is 10-6-2.
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:
Fresno Pacific 3, Southern California College 2--Chris Chaparro scored with four minutes remaining in the first half to give host SCC (10-8-1, 3-4-1) a 1-0 lead. Sergio Lopez scored twice for Fresno Pacific (11-4-1). Goalie Angel Ruiz had four saves for SCC.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball:
Cal State Bakersfield 3, Chapman 0--Jenny Gunderson had nine kills for host Chapman (15-10, 2-5), which lost, 15-4, 15-6, 15-10. Bakersfield (17-4, 7-0) is ranked third in NCAA Division II.
