Stais Boseman, one of the best all-around high school athletes in the state, said Sunday he would attend USC, where he plans to play both football and basketball. He will receive a basketball scholarship.
Boseman was the first athlete at Inglewood Morningside High to start in both football and basketball four consecutive years.
During the 1991-92 school year, Boseman led Morningside to the State Division III title in basketball and the Southern Section Division VIII championship in football. The Monarchs were later forced to forfeit their football title.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Boseman earned all-state honors in both sports last season. In basketball, he averaged 18 points. In football, the two-way starter rushed for 1,352 yards and passed for 1,174 more while accounting for 36 touchdowns as quarterback and averaged nearly 10 tackles a game with six interceptions as a defensive back.
Boseman took the Scholastic Aptitude Test on Oct. 17 for the second time. He is still waiting to receive his score, but needs to at least a 700 in order to be eligible to play sports his freshman year.
