Thomas H. Nielsen, a former president of the Newport Harbor Art Museum, has been named chairman designate of the board of directors of the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. Nielsen will succeed William Lyon after a vote by the full board in April. Lyon, an Orange County developer, has been chairman since 1990. The Center also has added five new board members, bringing the total to 51.
