Yoram Ben-Porath; Israeli Economist, University Leader
Yoram Ben-Porath, 55, the president of Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a leading Israeli economist. Ben-Porath was the rector of Israel’s largest and oldest university when he was named president in 1990. As an economist, he was known worldwide for his research on surveys and random samples. He received his doctorate from Harvard University. Near Eilat, Jerusalem, on Sunday of injuries suffered in a car accident.
