James Baker’s Role

Others have already said it, but I think it is worth repeating.
If Baker is so good that one minute Bush wants him to return to his foreign post and the next minute he is ready to make him the economy czar, why not elect Baker and cut out the middle man?
How dare Bush remove Baker from his sensitive job in the first place if only to serve his selfish interests.
