SAN DIEGO : Drifter Sought in Stabbing Death

A North County man described as a dangerous drifter remained at large Saturday night after authorities said he killed a man whose home he was sharing.
San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies said Larry Vitello, 27 and heavily tattooed, frequents areas of Oceanside and Vista.
Deputies said the slaying of the 40-year-old victim, who was stabbed to death, occurred in the 2300 block of Primrose Avenue in Vista shortly after 11 p.m. Friday. Vitello fled on foot shortly thereafter. The victim’s name had not been released late Saturday, pending notification of kin.
Vitello is described as having tattoos on his arms and torso. He is 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Department at 565-5200.
