Moorpark Ranked 6th in State in Football
Three area teams are ranked among the state’s top 20 junior college football teams, headed by Moorpark (4-0), which is ranked third in Southern California and sixth in the state. Antelope Valley (4-0-1) is 13th in the state going into Saturday’s showdown against Foothill Conference co-leader San Bernardino (4-0-1), which is 11th in the state.
Glendale (3-1) upset previously fourth-ranked Bakersfield, 41-16, and moved to 20th in the state.
Andrea Gaston of Canoga Park was eliminated by Carol Semple Thompson of Sewickley, Pa., 6 and 5, in a second-round match of the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship on Tuesday at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
A five-kilometer run/walk and wheelchair race to benefit Oxnard College’s Drug Awareness Program will be held Oct. 24.
