Magic Sits Out Practice, Not Scrimmage

HONOLULU — Magic Johnson sat out Monday’s morning Laker practice but scrimmaged Monday night.
It was the first drill Johnson missed since two-a-days started Friday. Coach Randy Pfund said he is letting Johnson work at his own pace.
“We knew today’s (morning) session was going to be a teaching session rather than a running session,” Pfund said. “So we thought that would be a good one for him to take off.
“We’ve announced a schedule of the exhibition games he’ll miss, but we’re not always going to be able to announce a schedule of the practices he misses.”
Said Johnson: “The 32-and-over club doesn’t have to work out sometimes.”
