Electro Rent Profits, Revenues Up in Quarter

Electro Rent Corp., a Van Nuys company that rents and leases computers and other electronic products to businesses, said its fiscal first-quarter profit rose 9% from a year earlier on a 2% increase in revenue.
In the quarter ended Aug. 31, Electro Rent’s net income climbed to $2.36 million from $2.17 million a year earlier, while its revenue edged up to $25.4 million from $24.9 million.
Electro Rent said the gains came from its rental business, which offset declines in its leasing revenue and sales of used equipment. The company said rentals of personal computers, workstations and test and measurement equipment rose from year-earlier levels.
