Woman Dies When Truck Flips on I-8
A Lakeside woman died Saturday night when the truck she was riding in left the freeway near Jacumba, hit a rock in the center divider and overturned.
Melissa Anne Hull, 18, died at the scene, said a spokesman for the San Diego County medical examiner’s office.
Investigators said Hull was a passenger in a pickup driven by Mathew Nelson, also of Lakeside. A man identified as David Trimble was also in the truck when it overturned at 11:05 p.m. on Interstate 8, about 3 miles east of Jacumba.
The three were wearing seat belts, investigators said. Hull was pinned inside the truck. Trimble and Nelson were taken by Life Flight helicopter to San Diego area hospitals, where they were reported in fair and good condition, respectively.
The cause of the accident was being investigated.
