Let’s Stop Cutting to the Police Chase
The recent article “Feckless Freeway Fliers” (Sept. 24) included some police commentary and dwelt on the TV coverage of the extremely dangerous and risky practice of law enforcement officers chasing suspect drivers across the metropolitan area on freeways or surface streets, at speeds up to 100 m.p.h. and more.
The reckless endangerment of thousands of other motorists in the dogged pursuit of one or several suspects is appalling, too often ending in death or injury of innocent civilians or even the police officers themselves, not to mention the enormous destruction of property that usually occurs in the process.
As a law-abiding citizen I wish to voice my anger at having to live in constant fear of being caught up without any chance of escape in such a juggernaut. I do hope others will join me in my protest.
