2 Arrested at Sobriety Checks
Ventura police arrested two people on suspicion of drunk driving while conducting sobriety checkpoints Friday night at three street intersections.
Police stopped 353 drivers at the checkpoints, which were set up to identify intoxicated motorists and to educate others about the hazards of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Volunteers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Ventura College’s administration of justice program assisted officers at checkpoints.
Police said they arrested Matt Chinery, 33, of Santa Paula, and Leslie Callaway, 24, of Ventura.
