Pursue and Deport--What Law Demands
Regarding “A Question of Trust” (editorial, Oct. 2): Who is the law-abiding citizen to trust if, as you suggest, the Orange Police Department and the Immigration and Naturalization Service can earn the trust of illegal aliens by failing to enforce the law?
The great majority of us who own property in Orange applaud the efforts of police and the INS which, last October, led to the deportation of over 200 illegal aliens. We need more such law enforcement.
It is a sad day for law enforcement, and all of us who depend upon it, when a major newspaper seeks to suggest that law enforcement agencies adopt policies and procedures which ignore the law.
Legal residents have no need to be wary of the police in Orange; I hope illegal residents have every reason to be.
