Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a Ventura County man Friday during a drug raid at his home in the hills above Malibu.
Authorities said Donald Scott, 61, was shot twice in the upper body after a sheriff’s narcotics team went to his 200-acre ranch on Mulholland Highway about 8:40 a.m. to serve a search warrant. They were looking for marijuana believed to be grown in the brushy canyon area in unincorporated Ventura County, sheriff’s spokesman Rich Erickson said.
But as the team entered the home, Scott allegedly emerged from a bedroom with a .38-caliber revolver. “Deputies ordered the man to drop the gun, but he pointed the weapon at them,” Erickson said. Two deputies fired several rounds at him.
