Man Arrested in Roommate’s Death
SANTA ANA — A fistfight between two roommates turned deadly, and one of the men was arrested on suspicion of murder, police said Tuesday.
Aleck Eugene Raby, 50, and Harvey Bess, 39, lived together for seven months at 304 N. Jackson St. and worked for the same janitorial service, said Maureen Haacker, a Police Department spokeswoman.
They began arguing at about 7 p.m. Monday and words escalated into a physical fight, she said. Police could not determine why the fight began. After Raby collapsed, paramedics were called and took him to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died shortly after.
Cause of death was internal hemorrhaging due to a ruptured spleen and diaphragm, and bruised left lung, Deputy Coroner William King said.
