A Los Angeles man was cited for felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter after the car he was driving careened off the southbound Hollywood Freeway in North Hollywood on Monday night, killing his passenger and seriously injuring himself, the California Highway Patrol said.
Francisco Juarez, 32, was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His 25-year-old passenger, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A CHP spokeswoman said Juarez was driving south on the freeway near Lankershim Boulevard about 9:15 p.m. when he swerved to the right. The car hurtled into the air and hit a tree.
