COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Chrishon, Saddleback Coast to Victory Over Cerritos

Saddleback gained 552 yards, including 327 rushing, and coasted to a 44-14 victory over Cerritos in a Mission Conference football game Saturday at Saddleback.
Marcellus Chrishon rushed for 136 yards in 27 carries and scored one touchdown and quarterback Tim Snowden completed 14 of 21 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown to pace the Gauchos’ attack.
After Cerritos’ Louie Major scored on a 13-yard run to tie the score, 7-7, in the first quarter, Saddleback (3-0), the No. 1-ranked team on the JC Grid-Wire poll, scored the next 30 points.
Shaun Coleman had two third-quarter touchdowns and rushed for 47 yards in seven carries for Saddleback. Wide receiver Dave Poltl caught five passes for 86 yards.
In other Mission Conference games:
Orange Coast 42, Southwestern 35--Orange Coast running back Eric Washington tied a conference record, rushing for four touchdowns as Orange Coast (2-1) defeated Southwestern.
Washington had 202 yards in 24 carries. It was only the fifth time that an Orange Coast player has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game.
Washington’s last touchdown came on a three-yard run with 6:31 left in the fourth quarter, extending the Pirates’ lead to 42-28.
With about three minutes remaining, Southwestern lineman Mike Johnson returned an interception to the Orange Coast 12-yard line. But Orange Coast stopped Southwestern on downs, then ran out the clock.
Quarterback Jorge Munoz was the top performer for the Apaches, passing for 359 yards and two touchdowns.
El Camino 40, Fullerton 9--Tony DaCosta rushed for two touchdowns for El Camino in front of about 3,000 at Fullerton.
El Camino led, 16-9, at halftime, then scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 30-9 lead. Michael Phillips and DaCosta scored on one-yard runs in the quarter. Ivan Wilson scored on a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter for El Camino (2-0), which is ranked ninth in the J.C. Grid-Wire poll. El Camino plays host to Saddleback, the top-ranked team in the nation at 7 p.m. Saturday.
