In the Magnolia water polo tournament:
Brea-Olinda wins consolation--The Wildcats (6-6) defeated Downey Warren, 8-6, and Estancia, 14-6, to win the consolation championship. Tad Murphy scored six goals in the two victories Saturday, and Tucker Lowe scored 16 goals in the tournament for Brea-Olinda.
Los Amigos wins pair--Drew Douglas scored six goals in the Lobos’ 11-7 victory over Kennedy, and five goals in a 15-4 victory over Cypress in consolation play. Douglas scored 23 in the five matches of the tournament, and teammate Scott Simmons scored 22 for Los Amigos (10-3).
In the Whittier La Serna tournament:
Fountain Valley takes fourth--Eric Best scored three goals for the Barons (6-2), who lost to Royal (10-1) in the third-place match, 10-9. Fountain Valley, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division II poll, lost to North Hollywood Harvard Westlake, 13-7, in the semifinals. Harvard Westlake (12-1) is the third-ranked team in Division I.
In nonleague water polo:
Esperanza 19, Coronado 12--Eric Poole and Brandon Martinez each scored six goals for visiting Esperanza. Brent Stanley had four goals and four assists for the Aztecs (8-1).
In nonleague eight-man football:
Liberty Christian 50, Harbor City Gateway Christian 0 (mercy rule)--Gabe Baltadano rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns in 12 carries to lead Liberty Christian (3-0) past Harbor City Gateway Christian (0-3). Jeremy Anderson rushed for 134 yards and four touchdowns in 19 carries for the Minutemen.
In nonleague girls tennis:
El Dorado 14, Villa Park 4--Linda Surapruik swept at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2, and 6-1, to lead El Dorado (6-1) past Villa Park. Susan Surapruik also swept at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 6-3, 6-0.
