Three candidates are vying for two seats on the board of the Cypress School District. The deadline to register to vote is Monday. To register, pick up a form at any post office, library or city hall. For information, call the county registrar of voters at (714) 567-7600.
Steve Blount
Age: 43.
Occupation: Corporate cash manager.
Background: Former PTA vice president in charge of programs at Arnold Elementary School; former school site council member; former vice chairman of District Surplus Property Committee; member of District Construction Advisory Committee.
Issues: Supports public access to district records; supports superintendent’s administration policies; contends his business experience will serve the district.

Donna Erickson
Age: 43.
Occupation: Incumbent; community volunteer.
Background: Board member since 1988; current board president; member Cypress Gang Awareness and Prevention Committee; board member of the Cypress Boys and Girls Club; member of the Cypress High School Coordinating Council; board member of Cypress High School PTA.
Issues: Supports small class size; supports year-round school of choice; supports after-school child care and programs; supports current selection for new superintendent.

Donna McDougall
Age: 54.
Occupation: Incumbent; substitute teacher; homemaker.
Background: School board member since 1983; past PTA president; representative and past president of the Special Education Consortium; representative to the Orange County School Boards Assn.
Issues: Supports small class size; supports day-care centers at each school site; supports team approach to leadership.
