Thrift Promotes Robert Barnum

American Savings Bank named Robert T. Barnum as its president and chief operating officer, the second-highest position at the thrift.
Stockton-based American, which has most of its administrative offices in Irvine, is owned by Texas billionaire Robert M. Bass. The thrift remains headed by Mario J. Antoci, its chairman and chief executive.
Barnum has been chief financial officer of American since January, 1989. He previously was chief financial officer for the parent of First Nationwide Bank in San Francisco.
Separately, American named to its board of directors W. Brent Robinson, the thrift’s executive vice president and director of retail banking.
