The Leo Freedman Foundation has announced a $200,000 gift to the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. The gift will help underwrite the Center’s 1993-94 ballet series and 1993 Imagination Celebration. Last year, in its first round of grants, the Freedman Foundation awarded $250,000 to the Center. Leo Freedman, an Anaheim businessman who built the Melodyland Theater and the Freedman Forum (now leased to the Celebrity Theatre), died in 1989. The foundation he created will generate about $500,000 a year to be distributed to arts organizations in the county.
