ROUNDUP : Saugus Rallies in Fifth Game to Beat La Canada in Volleyball
The Saugus High girls’ volleyball team almost blew a two-game lead before rallying in the fifth game to upend host La Canada, 15-8, 15-3, 13-15, 12-15, 15-12, in its opener Thursday.
Saugus trailed, 10-6, in the fifth game but scored nine of the next 11 points. The Centurions were led by Kezban Yagmur with 14 kills and Jodi Olsby, who had 40 assists.
In another girls’ volleyball match:
Newbury Park d. Moorpark, 15-4, 15-9, 15-6--Tracy Little (10 kills) and Kari Norberg (26 assists) paced host Newbury Park.
BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Alemany 17, Loyola 38--Bob Everett, Matt Metoyer and Steve Lopez took the first three places to lead the Indians in the Mission league opener at O’Melveny Park.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Chatsworth 7, Van Nuys 0--Sisters Michelle and Nicole Hirschman recorded singles victories for visiting Chatsworth (3-0).
Oak Park 11, Channel Islands 7--The doubles team of Jenny Brager and Lynn Chang won all three of its matches for Oak Park.
