Rebuilding: Officials of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Federation of Musicians are evaluating the damage to the organization’s Hollywood headquarters from a Sunday morning arson-caused fire. They’re beginning to plan benefit concerts to rebuild the Vine Street facility, which houses the union’s offices, meeting hall, performance auditorium and archives. A union representative said that members and music collectors will be sought to help replace the historic material that was lost. Fire officials, who have ruled out accidental causes for the fire, are investigating.
