Boy, 16, Is Fatally Shot; 4 Teens Flee
GARDEN GROVE — A 16-year-old Garden Grove boy died Tuesday evening shortly after being shot in the chest in front of his apartment building, police said.
The shooting occurred at 5 p.m. in front of the Haster Gardens Apartments in the 12200 block of Haster Street, police said. The teen-ager’s name had not been released by late Tuesday night.
Witnesses told police that two teen-age boys and two teen-age girls ran from the scene after the shooting. No one was in custody and police said they did not know the motive.
Poli Martinez, who was returning from playing pool, pushed through a crowd that gathered outside the apartment doorway where the victim collapsed. The youth was bleeding from a bullet wound in the chest, Martinez said.
