Lockheed Plans $1.8-Million Reno Facility: Lockheed Corp. announced that it will build the facility just south of Reno for research and development, and manufacturing. The plant will develop, make and distribute computer disk drives for such uses as desktop publishing and video editing and will employ 150. The operation, to be known as MountainGate, will consolidate the operations of two companies Lockheed bought this summer. Its MDB Systems Inc. division in Orange, Calif., will close and Cherokee Data Systems of Boulder, Colo., will become a product development facility.
