IS P.C. N.G.?

I object to the phrase politically correct because it somehow connotes that being sensitive to other perspectives is a passing phase, rather than a necessary fact of life in today’s society (“L.A. Speak,” Palm Latitudes, Aug. 2).
Many prefer the term people of color to minority, because it’s whites today who are in the minority in Los Angeles. Also, the term physically challenged is more accurate than disabled, which implies that such individuals are able to do nothing at all.
And finally, I fail to see what is humorous about trying to use non-sexist language.
