COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOOTBALL : Rancho Santiago Wins on Field Goal With :09 Left

SAN DIEGO — Rancho Santiago kicker Jose Prado kicked a 22-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining to give the Dons a 10-7 victory over San Diego Mesa in the season opener for both teams Saturday.
Prado’s field goal culminated an 18-play, 83-yard drive. The victory broke a four game-losing streak for Rancho Santiago.
Rancho Santiago took a 7-0 lead on an eight-yard touchdown run by Robert Clifford, who finished with 85 yards rushing in 20 carries.
Rancho Santiago quarterback Gabe Garcia finished with 112 yards passing, completing 13 of 25 attempts.
San Diego Mesa tied the game with 5:48 remaining in the third quarter on Keyawn Murphy’s one-yard touchdown run.
