For Clean Air, Laguna Needs to Shift Priorities
Regarding “Laguna Gives Smoking Ban Tentative OK” (Aug. 19): I would like for the Laguna Beach City Council to address priorities. If only one day any of them would park their car on Broadway and watch the 18-wheeler tractor-trailers spewing fumes into the air, restaurant smoking would really take a back seat. These trucks many times park with their engines running, the driver going for breakfast or lunch since, I am told, it is cheaper than turning off the engine and restarting it. Councilwoman Lida Lenney’s “island of clean air” has very little to do with second-hand smoke in restaurants. Please people, get real.
