OUTLOOK
Borowski, 28, a former Valencia quarterback/safety and assistant coach, took over April 1 at Anaheim, where he also teaches science. He has spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Paramount. He inherits a team that was outscored 136-34 in league play last season. “We want to be competitive every week,” Borowski said. “When you go 0-5 in league, you know every game is going to be difficult.” The team will build around Howard, a junior with Division I college potential, and Covarrubias, a three-year starter. Diaz, who sat out all of last season with a blood disorder, will likely be a starter. “They would have won more last year if he would have been out there,” Borowski said. “He’s phenomenal.”
