Four men accused of kidnaping a Bonita woman and her 2-year-old daughter have pleaded not guilty.
Carlos Cordero, 30, of San Diego; Armando Salman, 39, of Mazatlan, Mexico; Jose Lopez, 31, of Sonora, Mexico, and Francisco Jimenez, 35, of Tijuana entered their pleas during an arraignment Tuesday in South Bay Municipal Court. Each is being held on $250,000 bond.
The four are charged with kidnaping for ransom, false imprisonment and conspiracy. They were arrested Saturday after Chula Vista police, working with the FBI, Pacific Bell and a San Diego Police Department SWAT team located Catalina Campos and her little girl in a home in Clairemont.
The mother says she and her daughter were abducted at gunpoint Saturday morning from their home. The captors then paged Campos’ husband and demanded $300,000 ransom.
The suspects were arrested after the husband, working with the FBI, agreed to meet with the men in an effort to get his wife’s signature on a phony loan document.
