Monorail Cost Is Main Issue
The Monorail article (“Developers’ Funds Back Monorail Committee,” Times Valley Edition Aug. 17), failed to emphasize the correct issues.
The fact that a very few developers donated a very small percentage of the over $70,000 raised by the Citizens Committee is a non-issue, especially since none of the developers have land along the planned route from which to benefit.
The important facts are that Monorail is close to a half billion dollars less expensive than Metro Rail and it can be built in approximately two years. Metro Rail is scheduled to open in Universal City in June of 2000. We can have the Monorail up and running and ready to tie into Metro Rail the day it opens.
