RAMONA : Not-Guilty Plea in 1981 Killing
A man pleaded not guilty Monday to killing his wife 11 years ago and attacking her companion.
Salvador Casillas, 37, is accused of shooting his 23-year-old wife, Maria, through a smashed window while she was at home on Nov. 1, 1981, with her companion, Donald Pozzi.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Monroy said Casillas was arrested last Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport after arriving on a flight from Mexico.
Ten days after the shooting, authorities discovered Casillas’ car near El Centro, and footprints near the vehicle pointed to Mexico, where he was believed to have escaped.
Casillas is being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
