OUTLOOK
What’s not to like about the Griffins this season? The quarterback, running back, all four receivers and most of the offensive line--key figures in Los Alamitos’ ‘91 section championship team--return for their senior seasons. The defense is untested, however, and that bothers Barnes, who is in his 14th season at Los Alamitos. “I think early on we might have a tough time stopping people,” he said. After a season smoothing out the rough spots of their run-and-shoot offense, Barnes believes they have it licked now. “We’re light years ahead of where we were last year,” he said. “As a coaching staff we didn’t know what we were doing. It was scary to start something new.”
