BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Strawberry Eyes Return in Atlanta
Darryl Strawberry has still targeted the two-game series in Atlanta on Sept. 7-8 for his return to the lineup, despite missing a week with an upper respiratory infection.
Strawberry, who rejoined the Dodgers on Sunday in St. Louis, said that before the infection he had revised his plans and hoped to begin playing this week in Chicago.
When Strawberry returns, he will be more careful than he was during his previous comeback attempt from back problems.
“The doctors are saying I could play two days, take one day off, something like that,” Strawberry said. “I’m going to be careful and see how much effect this has on my body.”
Shortstop Jose Offerman, suffering from a strained left groin muscle, could miss the remaining eight games of this trip.
