Teen Arrested at Disturbance in Park
At least one teen-ager was arrested in a disturbance involving scores of youths at Southcrest Park on 45th Street near Logan Avenue.
The 15-year-old boy was among youths who threw stones and bottles at Navy Shore Patrol officers conducting a sweep of the park, where drug and alcohol abusers often congregate, San Diego Police Sgt. Larry Weeden said. Police said about 150 people were gathered at the park at the time of the disturbance.
The teen-ager, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Weeden said. Shore Patrol also detained several Navy personnel, Weeden said.
