De Niro’s Double Duty: Principal photography starts today in New York on Tribeca’s “A Bronx Tale,” a film that marks the directorial debut of actor Robert De Niro, who also stars. De Niro’s co-star is Chazz Palminteri, who in turn wrote the screenplay based on his one-man show of the same title. Set in the 1960s, “Tale” tells of a hard-working Italian-American father who tries to steer his son away from the amoral street code of a neighborhood wiseguy.
