Waltrip Scores 12th Victory at Bristol

Darrell Waltrip led the final 133 laps and won the Bud 500 Winston Cup stock-car race at Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday night.
In gaining his 12th victory at Bristol, Waltrip passed Ricky Rudd on lap 367 to take the lead for good, stretching the margin to 9.28 seconds over second-place Dale Earnhardt at the end of 500 laps.
Ken Schrader was third, giving Chevrolet a 1-2-3 finish. Kyle Petty, in a Pontiac, was fourth and Alan Kulwicki, last year’s winner, was fifth in a Ford.
Waltrip, whose last victory at Bristol was in the fall race in 1989, averaged 91.198 m.p.h.
