Cardis Corp.: The Buena Park automotive parts distributor and retailer reported a loss of $444,000, or 20 cents a share, for its first fiscal quarter, which ended July 31. That compared with a loss of $960,000, or $1.86 a share, for the comparable period last year. Sales decreased 8% to $17.6 million from $19.1 million. The company said the decline reflected the effects of civil disturbances in Los Angeles and of operating two fewer retail stores than a year earlier.
