Driver Is Arrested After Car Rear-Ends Road-Striping Truck
IRVINE — A motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving Thursday after she allegedly rear-ended a truck that was painting stripes on the road.
The accident happened about 3:30 a.m. on Jamboree Road, south of Dupont Drive. Police said that two trucks, owned by Orange County Striping Service, were putting stripes on Jamboree Road when one of them was struck from behind. Bright hazard lights on both trucks were flashing at the time, said Sgt. Steve Frew.
The driver of the truck that was hit, Gilbert Rivera, 37, was treated at Healthcare Medical Center of Tustin and released, Frew said.
The driver of the car, Maria Pamela Cammarata, 40, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she was listed in critical condition. Police arrested her at the hospital on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
The accident investigation is continuing, and Irvine police ask that any witnesses call their traffic bureau at (714) 724-7021.
